The “Norroen” Painting

See before your eye an old painting with the images of animal creatures and meditating monks. Then imagine that the painting comes to live in front of you, and that the room is being filled by wild horses, howling wolves, rising ravens and craniums of birds from another world. Figures on stilts, masks of animals, big bowls of fire, and the sound of deep drums stretches the painting out into all corners and creates a feel of magic and ritual.

The performance is inspired by the Nordic mythologies of the “Norrøn”. The painting of the “Norrøn” is that of a ritual to honour life, nature and history. The performance may be changed according to length and size to fit the stage as well as the occasion.

The “Norrøn” Painting works best as an outdoor performance, in the evening, and it has on several occasions been performed at the end of a course, where the participants have been joining as masks and in this way are included in the creation of the magic.

The “Norrøn” Painting was performed for the first time at the Olympic Games in Lillehammer.

Welcome to a world of mythology.
