Valravn
Concert
Eyes firmly on the 21st century, Valravn have released in October 2007 the critically acclaimed debut album ”Valravn”, nominated to 3 Danish Music Awards.
Valravn’s inspiration comes from the Nordic untameable weather, nature and music tradition. The band manages to organically blend the raw sounds from their ancient instruments with the smooth possibilities of electronic music. The fusion of the two yields a unique and powerful experience of the vigour and life, which lays hidden deep in the Nordic roots.
Live, Valravn is both fierce, intense and alluring. With equal parts energy and charm, the five musicians spellbind their audience, inviting us into a magical atmosphere between past, present and future.
Light show, guest musicians and performance artists can be an extra feature of a Valravn live act, which often includes great surprises.
Playful, wild and gentle, Faroese vocalist Anna Katrin Egilstrøð lends her voice and charisma to powerful interpretations of songs from ages past, in Faroese as well as Danish and Icelandic.
Valravn is flaming poetry, featuring elements of folk, rock, punk and electronica - a unique and overwhelming experience of beauty and life force.
Valravn sees today great international demand, having toured in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Germany, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, Norway, the Faroe Islands, Iceland, Poland and Czech Republic.

THE PRESS WROTE:
“One of the most interesting bands on the Danish scene.” Gaffa, Denmark
“Great energy and fierce vitality. A seriously electrifying link between folk music and the chaos of contemporary rhythmical music has been missing for some time in Denmark. Valravn lights up that old void.” ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ (out of 6) Politiken, Denmark
“These are not youngsters who mock dead old instruments, nor nerds on a doomed mission. This is done so whole-heartedly that the ancient heritage feels alive and kicking. Past and present become a beautiful, wild and vivid unity, and you cannot but surrender to Valravn.” * * * * * (out of 6) Dimmalaetting, Faroe Islands
“This first effort by Valravn is one of the tastiest recent plates of a Scandinavian scene which has set the standards quite high.” www.musicinbelgium.net
“Easily the finest electro-folk hybrid that I've heard in recent years.”
Penguin Eggs, Canada
“An impressive band and a welcome development.”
fRoots, England
”They played the stars from the sky”- as we say in Dutch. It basically means they were beyond awesome.” Heathen Harvest, Holland
“Wonderful performance of VALRAVN. A really pleasant mix of tradition and electronic. And finally the square could dance.” Giornale del Popolo, Switzerland
“They put nerve on the traditional instuments with an extraordinary punk energy. They do it leaving a lot of space of expression to the great voice of Anna Katrin Egilstrød: an explosive scene presence.” Corriere del Ticino, Switzerland
